Comprehensive training and support designed to empower First Nations youth
The LEAPT Program is our comprehensive electrical apprenticeship initiative that provides First Nations youth with the skills, qualifications, and support needed to build successful careers in the electrical industry.
This program combines hands-on construction and electrical work with formal TAFE education, all while providing dedicated mentoring and cultural support throughout the journey.
A comprehensive approach to apprenticeship success
Hands-on training in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work. Learn from experienced electricians in real-world settings.
Formal education leading to Certificate III in Electrotechnology. We coordinate with TAFE and provide study support.
One-on-one mentoring from First Nations Directors who understand the unique challenges apprentices face.
Ongoing career guidance to help apprentices plan their future and achieve their professional goals.
What truly sets Dyirranga apart is our mentoring program, led by two experienced First Nations Directors. This isn't just career mentoring – it's holistic support that recognizes the cultural context and personal circumstances of each apprentice.
Mentors who understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, family structures, and community connections
Guidance on workplace challenges, professional development, and career progression in the electrical industry
Help navigating TAFE requirements, study planning, and balancing education with work commitments
Support with family pressures, personal challenges, and life circumstances that impact apprenticeship success
